Accomplishments for 2007 - 2008

  • The Carolina Musculoskeletal Institute Foundation contributed $4,000 to fund scholarships for students enrolled in nursing; radiological technology, dental assisting and surgical technology.
  • Monsanto Augusta Plant donated $4,000 to support the purchase of two site licenses for a Process Simulation Package for students in WBD chemical operator classes.
  • Along with the new Wal-Mart on Richland Avenue can a $7,000 contribution to the ATC Foundation which will support the Achieve the Dream Initiative.
  • URS’ Washington Division and WSRC contributed $200,000 to launch a new RADCON program at the College with the first class beginning in the fall of 2008.
  • Wachovia Bank contributed $5,000 to the Achieve the Dream Initiative.
  • With the largest graduating class in May of 2007, the ATC Foundation established the first Alumni Program on campus. To date we have 61 members.
  • The ATC Foundation hosted its first annual signature event “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner?” on October 5, 2007 at Woodside Plantation. The evening included dinner, a silent auction and our secret mystery guest “Martha Reeves and the Vandellas.” The evening was a success raising funds for student scholarships and the music of Martha Reeves brought back memories of Motown.
  • The 12th Annual ATC Friend Raiser Golf Tournament held on October 8th at Woodside Plantation’s Jones Course was a huge success. Over 110 golfers participated in this event held to thank donors for their support of Aiken Technical College.
  • The Annual Fund Drive “Community Connections – Building Bridges to Bright Futures” raised over $43,000 in unrestricted funds for the college.
  • The ATC Foundation Board of Trustees welcomed new board members: Michael Anaclerio, Smith Barney and Lisa Kirby with DSM Chemicals.
  • The ATC Foundation held its seventh annual Scholarship Benefactor/Recipient Breakfast on January 24, 2008 to recognize the generosity of the many scholarship benefactors and introduce them to their scholarship recipients. More than 110 people attended this very special event.
  • The ATC Employee Giving Campaign was held during the month of March, 2008. This year’s theme was “Giving Back is Moving Forward”. The month-long campaign raised awareness of the Foundation’s priorities and goals. Employees were asked to support book scholarships. The campaign raised $12,554.
  • The ATC Foundation allocated $10,000 for faculty and staff professional development initiatives. Funds are used to support new initiatives of the College.
  • The ATC Foundation supported the “Outstanding faculty, administrator and support staff” each with a $500 check during the 2008 graduation ceremony. Recipients were Bob Moldenhauer, Faculty Member of the Year; Rick Wells, Administrator of the Year; Norma McCarthy, Staff Member of the year. Congratulations to each recipient!
  • Monsanto August Plant contributed $2,500 to purchase a Gear Maintenance Trainer in support of PrimeMedia learning modules.
