Accomplishments for 2009

A scholarship was established in memory of ATC student Travis Miller. Travis was an EMT student at the College. Family and friends contributed to fund a student enrolled in the Basic EMT Program.
Renowned SC artist, Jim Harrison, visited the campus twice during the year helping to raise funds for the Foundation by donating a percentage of his sales to the ATC Foundation.
The Korean War Veterans Association, Chapter 255, established a $500 scholarship for a veteran, spouse, child or grandchild of a veteran of any war.
Horace Mann Insurance Agency in North Augusta established a dual enrollment scholarship for high school students attending ATC. Two students are selected each year to receive a $500 scholarship.
Sue Stutman-King established a scholarship in memory of her husband who was a very dedicated paramedic. The Mike King Memorial Paramedic Scholarship will be awarded to a student enrolled in the first paramedic program starting in January 2010.
The ATC Foundation held its ninth annual Scholarship Benefactor / Recipient Breakfast in January which was very well attended to recognize the generosity of the many scholarship benefactors and introduce them to their scholarship recipients.
The annual faculty and staff Family Giving Campaign them this year was “It’s a Shore Thing” and was held in March. The campaign was a beach theme and raised over $11,947. Some of the fundraising activities included a silent auction, shore excursion shopping day and flamingo flocking of offices for a good cause.
A new program was funded by the Family Giving Campaign entitled “P.A.G.E.” Providing Academic Gateways for Education. This program provides current academic books to the library for students to use if they cannot afford to purchase a book for class. The foundation spent over $2,600 during the fall semester for books to help our students succeed. Additional books will be purchase for the spring semester.
The Foundation is a recipient of a Wachovia Foundation Grant in the amount of $5,000 to help fund a pediatric intensive care lab.
The Gregg-Graniteville Foundation awarded a grant to the ATC Foundation for $5,000 to help support the college’s Achieving the Dream Initiative.
The ATC Foundation hosted several groups on campus for tours. Those groups included the Aiken Chamber Ambassadors, Korean War Veterans, Chapter 255, Aiken’s Mended Hearts and the SC Health Care Managers Association.
The ATC Foundation welcomed Mr. David Mosier as the new chairman of the ATC Foundation Board of Trustees in January, 2009. David will serve a three year term as chairman.

The third annual fundraiser “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner” was a huge success with secret entertainers, comedian Jerry Farber and singer song writer Johnny Parazzo, also known as the “Ageless Wonders.” Guests were treated to dinner, mojito tastings and a unique silent auction during the event which drew 155 guests to Houndslake Country Club. Sponsors of the event included Shaw, AREVA, Mox Services, LLC as the Producer Sponsor and DSM Chemicals and Husqvarna as the Director Sponsors. Hampton Inn, Aiken provided guest accommodation for our entertainers.
